Alpha Theta Chapter  Iowa University

Greetings Brothers in Alpha Phi Alpha:

Alpha Theta in keeping with Education for Citizenship Week, presented Brother Sidney A. Jones, Jr., as its speaker.
Brother Jones addressed a group in the Methodist Church on the subject: “Second Class Citizenship Must Go–A Challenge to America.” He sport lighted the sore spots– employment, transportation, and schools. He emphatically stated that if America is to be trusted with the leadership of the world, it must set a resourceful example at home; otherwise the nations of the world will not be inclined to trust her.

At a subsequent program Brother Jones spoke to the Newman Mixer Club on the subject, “Problems of Minority Groups in America.” His topic was timely because the group was composed of foreign students and was representative of minority groups in America.

Brother Jones showed how the problems were inter-related rather than peculiar to each group. Many pointed questions were aimed at Brother Jones who disposed of them in a realistic and statesman-like manner.

Alpha Theta looks forward to presenting other outstanding Brothers in Alpha to the Community.

Fraternally yours,

Eldridge Leonard Chapter President
