95th Annual Alpha Theta Chapter Celebration
The Do Work District
In December, 1921, Rhoderic Harris discussed with R. H. Graham the advisability and opportunity of establishing a Chapter of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity at the seat of the State University of Iowa, currently called The University of Iowa. Feeling that the time was propitious, the Penndennis Club was organized, with Rhoderic Harris as President, and application made to the National Chapter at its 14th annual convention, in session at Baltimore.
Permission was given, and Brother Wm. Powell of the University of Illinois (Tau), was sent to set the Chapter up. March 11, 1922, The Chapter was established with as initial membership of twelve, Brother Crosthwaite, of Marshalltown, Iowa, was present at the first meeting.
